An electron in an orbit feels the electromagnetic attraction from an atomic nucleus. Uhlenbeck, two graduate students at the University of Leiden, Neth., to explain the magnetic moment measurements made by Otto Stern and Walther Gerlach of Germany several years earlier. The effect of this is that only certain orbits will be allowed, including a minimum range orbit which prevents the electron from crashing into the nucleus.

While it has much interesting reading, it is not a book to learn relativity from: its approach is all over the place, and it pushes gawdy notation which no one actually uses to do anything useful. Governments have traditionally been responsible for establishing and enforcing standard units for the sake of orderly commerce, navigation, science, and, of course, taxation. In electromagnetism, Newton's second law for current-carrying wires breaks down unless one includes the electromagnetic field contribution to the momentum of the system as expressed by the Poynting vector divided by c2, where c is the speed of light in free space.

Velocity = change of displacement over time taken The rate of change of distance. It is intended to be used as one small part of a multifaceted strategy to teach physics conceptually and mathematically. It seems to me that it still is just as valid today!
