[40] The importance of aspirin therapy in the primary prevention of cardiovascular events for both men and women was also emphasized in a recent gender-specific meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials. [41] This meta-analysis identified that the most significant effect of aspirin was in ischemic stroke risk reduction in women and myocardial infarction risk reduction in men.
